Hidden to the casual eye

It's amazing what you could find just wandering around your own backyard.. There's something interesting and unique in even the most common objects if we look from the right perspective.
This view was from a spinach plant growing in my backyard. These seeds or whatever are purple itself. I didn't alter much of the colour just enhance and added some depth of field. I've been learning these photographic terms hoping to get hold of an SLR sooner than later..

This tire was a great play toy those days.. rolling it with a stick.. controlling speed and direction was like learning to drive.

Every tree branch i see had some different types of insects, doing what they're supposed to do. It's a whole echo system in there.. It's a limited world for them and come to think of it, we are limited as well.

An abandoned house.. could be birds or squirrels. Had to be cautious to approach. Some eggs would have made it a better pic. I didn't bother photoshopping some eggs in it..

Tiberium has infested the back wall. Yet i'm glad we live in a blue zone.. still civilization thrives here. Blue tiberium would have had more energy per crystal lattice bond... Green ones have become energy sources for household equipment etc. Proper public awareness has reduced the number of tiberium exposure accidents but still cases of unaware subjects (mostly kids wandering around) getting radiation sickness aren't rare. (some command n conquer jargon.. don't bother if you don't get it..)

Rest of the pics arrive

And finally they find time to come to my place.. some have even resigned from their jobs, the reason being too much travel. The rest of the nuwaraeliya pics made mine seem few.

This pic was just after i snapped the one i've used for the header of this page. How convenient to have just the right number of stools set up. We even found five of these in Haggala gardens which we went the next day. There was no time to sit around as the place was huge and we were regretting not bringing food on our way, whereas in this small park we were merely waiting for time to pass, battery to end or run out of places to shoot..

Haggala gardens is supposedly a heavenly place with flowers all over.. although this was off-season there were a few colourful sights here and there. Orchids were nowhere to be found even though the map said we passed over them. The cool breeze was just amazing. Makes us wonder why we live where we live..

Walking in to the more farther parts of the park there are some waterways with rounded rocks nicely set up for seating purposes...

The back road at the edge of the park was swarming with lovers and they were forced to head for the bushes or back to civilization as we invaded lover's territory. This scene was a reminder of some wallpapers i used to have hehe

Anything could look weird if you think weird enough..

Not many choices when it comes to flowers.. leftmost one was back lit from the sun

Horses were not a big thing on the streets.. they may pull the queen around in england, they are just traffic on these streets..

Recap of Nature snaps

Browsing through pic collections really brings back memories. I realized that i have a number of great nature pics scattered around.

Rathnapura is my village place, where i was born.. city of gems as the name says.. although now the house there is inaccessible, the memories are all too fresh. I've always been a fan of Green and its true that it helps you relax. Ratnapura is green and wet most of the year.

This one day i wanned to capture some sights that caught my eye.. i was walking allover the place with a cam. Outcome was a lot of Megabytes of colour.. here are a few of the best..

Then i came across this pics of another wonderful place called Gilimale.. There's this place an old couple has bought to spend their retirement... who happen to be our relatives and have a great taste for nature. It was a day at a small house on top of a hill with tea plantations below and blue mountain ranges as far as the eye could see.. yes only poetry would best describe the feeling. Even the shadows upon the rocks, grass that would seem ordinary elsewhere makes up shapes that adds to the surrounding.. One could spend the whole day staring at basically nothing and feel wholesome.

Then there happed to be a waterway where we could bathe. There was a formation of a pond and right above was a small waterfall.. The natural setting was perfect for spending hours in the water. Reminds me how many more of such places there are in Sri Lanka hidden from the all but a few. Shown below are a few that has some artistic value to it..

Family times

While i get my hands on the rest of the nuwaraeliya pics, i was having some family times just yesterday. I really wanned to get wet somehow and we were off to this sea side place ahungalla. sadly the sea was kinda rough this time of year. I was restricted to the pool. I really need some time with my breathing technique.. the only thing i could do best was to float.. having the little guy my nephew really energizes the surrounding.

Couldn't believe i didn't actually go to the sea. well it's true that i had enough of sea at pankor island.
This place called "Heritance" has been totally renovated after being washed away by the tsunami. It seems a foreigner had got the news of the tsunami coming there and all the people have been evacuated. some of the people in the restaurant have been washed away to the kitchen.. hehe only minor injuries gladly..

Nothing like a good lunch after hours in the water. food was great. Too bad me or my bro aren't heavy eaters though.. when will we ever grow!

Last Holiday

Isn't this the best time to start a blog.. it's the holidays and i've waited till the last week. I'm surprised that i actually managed to stop many from spending their free time at home and go with me a few places.
Holidays in Sri Lanka are hot as always.. but the feeling of being home makes up for everything.
Nuwaraeliya on the otherhand is a COOL place, also known as Little England! it was about a week back that 5 old friends set out on a trip there and most unexpectedly everything went fine.. I can't recall how many times i've tried to get all these people to actually get out of their houses to go somewhere i like..

Here we go, I've named this "Album cover" as in a music album photo hehe.. everyone seemed to mind their own business.

come to think of it.. i may not post the actual pictures at all in this blog.. a photo should not be about reality (as long as you're not a reporter). Isn't the wonder if digital photography, being able for you to show what you want and not necessarily what you see?

just to add some info, this was in a park in Nuwaraeliya town.

The first day was all walking around.. the park, the race course (horse races), some lake and of course the cold breeze which as darkness fell became quite unbearable.

This green scene is also from the park in town. I had this scene in my mind when i saw this view. not so green at first view though.. well here it is looking heavenly.

A view of the town from the nineteen fourties.. aaa the mitsubishi truck may not add to the time though.

Flowers seem to grow out of nothing at that place.

The lush vegitation. I've put some glowing effect on this one though, and ofcourse made it greener.

Again some flowers from the park. Some glow of the brighter areas again and some colour variation.

I'm waiting for the rest of the pics. my camera ran outof power the first day and i didn't take the charger. rest of the pics were taken from a better Cybershot W30. got some work to do when i get those pics tomorrow.

well then, first blog doesn't seem so bad does it.. let's see, if this'll become a collection of some memorable pics.
