Singapore - part 2

The Singapore zoo is done nicely.. What i like the most is that there are no cages to be seen around.. and the animals seem to be well taken care of.
I took this pic of the parrots and saw some one being told that picture taking is 5$.. i was quick to move out, gladly could zoom in from far.

Not sure who these are though..

Can say that the white tiger is the main attraction of the Singapore zoo.. they sure are cool.. magestic animals.

White tiger's "cage" or should i say kingdom/palace ?..

There were three tigers but one of em was hiding somewhere..

The hippo doing the submarine move.. It's as if they're walking on the moon when viewed underwater

You could watch monkeys for a long time and they would be doing something different each time..

Monkey #3425

Some bird

Family portrait

Some nice additions to the surrounding

These big guys, i'm not sure what they are, give these serious poses from time to time..

Balancing act

The only horse carriage ride in singapore..

An insightful moment..

The second largest bird in the world.. found in australia.. don't ask me who..

A kick from those legs would be fatal..

Crowned

The white rhino..

Striped zebra asses..

Damn the battery ran out.. just when i got to the lions.. missed some good action

Singapore - part 3

Sentosa island is actually a theme park set in an island to the south of Singapore. Attractive stuff are the cable car ride there, sky tower which gradually moves up to give a view of singapore and even indonesia, underwater tunnel, "Songs of the sea" performance of light and water and some other events.

This is near the entrance to the underwater tunnel.. peacocks seem to hang around everywhere there..
The dolphin show comes with the underwater tunnel ticket. Some fascinating stuff done by the pink dolphins (if i'm not mistaken)..

Dolphins aren't the only thing to watch there.. some super-models come to learn new moves from da dolphins..

The double flip triple twist.. whatever move! cool..

A family watching the show..

The underwater tunnel starts with some interesting fishes.. You'll find people from all over the world visiting these places. Singapore has done a great job on tourism.. although being a small country..

This fish.. that fish.. may not be a fish at all

Not a fish..

The tunnel. Well it was my second time there.. still, it's a cool place to be.. especially near the sharks.. a moving belt keeps you moving, you can go around any amount of times as you like

Big fish

Some really funny looking shark. Kinda like a clown with a gun..

Jelly's..

More jelly's..

Find nemo..

Where the tunnel ends is where it starts

Singapore - part 4

Sentosa island has buses for traveling within the island to those places with activities etc. Last time was not rainy and we were walking by foot most of the time and there were some trails made in to the woods which had some old cannons etc. i'm not sure if they were real or not..

This time we were restricted to only the main attractions..

The free "musical water fountains" show last time i went was now replaced with the "songs of the sea" show which was 6SGD. This one is definitely better. Most of the techniques were the same.. The stage was built on the sea but the people were acting a drama on the shore..

These village like scene is the stage on water from where they projected lights later on..

A refinery was seen on the main land from the place we were seated

Smoke illuminated by light.. and the show started

It was spectacular how these images and some animation were projected on to a screen made of mist.. Laser lights added to the scene.

A walk way shaped like.. shaped like this...
we were searching for the way out

There is a train track from main land.. but we took the cable car instead..

The place we stayed.. my friend's relatives.. the kids were real fun bags..

Something i like about singapore is that it has alot of green. Some places its almost like a rainforest. People might think its a small place n all but some roads just go on forever and its only trees around.. no buildings in sight..

A building that looked like if it's made of chocolate..

The balloon ride was not available that day.

All the days we were there were rainy.. although things turned out ok in the end..

Who knows how to drive a balloon? Malaysia immigration shoots down UFO's?

Zoom - in

Recently i bought this lens which would cover a wide range of zoom so that i won't have to buy separate lenses and change them often.. well it sure is versatile. Zooms from wide angle to telephoto (11.1X zoom)

These are some pics of this n that, mainly i wanted to try out the lens..

Morning sun gives some nice shadows..

Okay, here's the thing.. Makes my camera look big and heavy. The camera looks inferior to this somehow.. This VR (vibration reduction) option comes in handy when at low light the shutter speed needs to be stepped down and with zooming this would cause shaking if shooting hand held. So this VR actually can compensate quite well for the shaking.. eats up battery though. Could here some noise coming from the lens when shoot button half pressed..

Rope and metal

Far

Some light room effect..

Hiding

Layered

I happened to wake up early and had nothing to do.. wasn't so bad afterall..

Can say the first "proper" bird (or da only one around), shot from this lens..

A jet just happened to have passed by.. adding to the subject

Feed on light..

Accommodation

Branching near - far

Some shapes and colours that caught my eye..
